About Us
Driving is more than a skill—it’s a path to independence, confidence, and connection. At Turn Driving School, we specialize in helping individuals of all ages and abilities become safer, more capable drivers through personalized, respectful instruction.
Turn Driving School is a division of Driver Cognitive Assessment Center, LLC. Founded by Melanie Henry, a Licensed Driving Instructor and Driver Rehabilitation Professional, our school was created to serve a wide range of learners, including:
- Beginner teens and adults
- Neurodivergent teens and young adults who learn differently
- Older drivers returning to driving or preparing for a DMV Road Test
- Drivers recovering from illness, injury, or low confidence
Melanie brings over 7 years of experience as a driving instructor and holds certifications as a Driver Rehabilitation Professional and Certified Dementia Practitioner. She is also a member of the Association for Driver Rehabilitation Specialists (ADED). Known for her compassionate, patient, and judgment-free approach, Melanie is especially skilled at supporting new drivers, older adults, and individuals with learning, cognitive or medical challenges.
We incorporate technology to compliment behind the wheel lessons through a specialized series of instructional videos and skilled based apps to build upon driving skills and reinforce learning. Our students are assigned homework and loaned a digital tablet if needed.
We take pride in offering adaptive, inclusive instruction that’s tailored to each person’s learning style, communication needs, and comfort level. Our foundation includes expertise in driving instruction, case management, risk evaluation, cognitive assessments, and driver remediation.
Our school is located in Pleasanton, California and we serve all cities in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our one-on-one behind-the-wheel lessons are calm, respectful, and safety-focused. You won’t find a one-size-fits-all approach here—just meaningful instruction that meets you where you are.
We understand that learning to drive can feel both exciting and overwhelming. Our job is to help you be ready, capable, and confident—no matter where you’re starting from.
At Turn Driving School, we’re here to support your next step—one safe turn at a time.
